A personal journey to obtaining and maintaining natural hair
I really enjoyed these mini braids this summer. For almost the full month of July I didn’t have to worry about doing my hair. It took about 3-4 hours to do them but that was only because I was stopping and doing other stuff.
These braids were created on clean, dry and stretched hair using Blue Magic Coconut Oil hair grease and Ampro Clear Ice hair gel.
I started off using the end of a rat tail comb to make square parts but that was taking too long for me. So I used my fingers to part hair and ended up with not so square parts, which was okay because no one really noticed. And if they did it wasn’t mentioned to me.
I was able to do a lot with these braids; pulled into a bun or ponytail and pinned them up. They really came in handy at the water park.
Maintenance was super easy. I used Creme of Nature Argan Oil Strength & Shine leave in conditioner and applied coconut oil to the ends as needed. About 2 weeks in I rinsed braids with water and small amount of conditioner, that was mostly done to get the chlorine out after the water park.
Heck, I’m thinking about re-doing this style real soon. Its almost protective styling season for me.
