Letting Go and Starting Over

I decided to start this blog to document my natural hair journey. I have been prowling natural hair websites and youtube for information and support. I noticed that they all suggest that one should track their progress through pictures, videos or journals.

I did my big chop with the help of my husband on February 18, 2010 after transitioning for about 6 months. My last relaxer was something during August or September 2009. After my big chop I was left with about 2 inches of hair. I actually like my nice little fro. I did not feel scared or anything. I actually was relieved and wondered what took me so long to get the courage to do it.

I had always thought about going natural but each time I would mention the idea to others I always received some type of negative comment. Now that I have grown to love myself (flaws and all), I realized that the decision to go natural will be mine, no one else’s. People are always going to have an opinion but I realized that in end I would be happy.
