Hair texture and type

It has been about 6 weeks since my BC and I think I know what my hair texture or hair type is. I really wasn’t into finding out what type of hair was growing out of my scalp. I just figured that most black hair was just about the same. But after coming across articles stating that in order to truly take proper care of your hair one must determine what is your hair textures and types.

One site that visit I often( naturally curly) uses the hair typing system by Andre Walker who is a celebrity hair dresser and has won numerous Emmys for his work on the Oprah Winfrey Show. His hair classification system consists of four hair types and subsets; straight, wavy, curly and kinky.

Since I have gotten rid of my permed hair I think I have a combination of type 3c curly and type 4a kinky.

According to Naturally Curly type 3c curly hair consists of tight corkscrew curls that  has a “S” pattern to it and looks like a stretched out slinky. Type 4a hair is tightly coiled that when stretched, has an “S” pattern, much like curly hair; hair is  very tightly coiled and very, very fragile, appears to be coarse, but it is actually quite fine, with lots and lots of this strands densely packed together.
