When I started this natural hair journey I vowed to never become a product junkie. The plan was to use up all of the products left over from when I was relaxed and to deal with products that provided my hair with the nutrients it need to grow and be healthy.
As I started using up old products and replacing them with the new I’ve noticed that the new stuff does not take up much space at all. The bathroom shelf is starting to look empty. Before it was cluttered with bottles of pink lotion, softee hair grease, pro style gel, holding spray, pump it up spritz and all types of hair products that were filled with ingredients that did more harm than good. Now that those are gone these items are products I have grown to love so far:
For me this stuff replaces hair grease. I have never used it in its raw form instead I whip it with a hand mixer adding different oils and sometimes aloe vera gel to it. Use whipped shea butter to lock in moisture after washing or wetting hair, use it to braid and twist with and to flat iron hair.
I use oils for hot oil treatments, pre poo treatments, to seal in moisture after washing or wetting oil and to add shine to hair. So far I have used coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, hot six oil and African herbal oil. Coconut oil is my favorite.
For me this stuff replaces typical hair gel like pro style clear gel. Used it to slick down edges, add it to whipped shea butter mix, hair spritzs and sometimes I mix it with coconut oil.
Gel made from whole flax seeds. I love this stuff on wash and go styles. I also use it as a setting lotion when using curlformers.
