Box Braids

After wearing my hair out for a week I knew that it was time to put my hair into some type of protective style because I am trying to be committed to the challenge.

I co washed and detangled with Suave Coconut conditioner. Detangled hair by using my fingers first then a wide tooth shower comb. I find it easier to do this in the shower than to wash my hair in the kitchen sink. The running water from the shower helps the detangling process.

Next I used Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise as a conditioning treatment.

When hair was about almost dry I applied my whipped shea butter mix that contains shea butter, coconut oil, aloe vera gel and essential oils. This batch has peppermint oil in it.

Separated hair into three sections, two in the front and one in the back. Using a wide tooth rat tail comb I parted the section to be braided. I have a hard time making perfect parts so I used my fingers to create the boxes. Before braiding I applied a small amount of aloe vera gel and combed through to distribute gel evenly.

This is my 1st set of box braids. It took about 2 hours but I am pretty pleased with the result.
