6 months of Protective Styles

End of 2010 beginning of 2011, I participated in a 6 month protective style challenge that helped me learned how to care for my natural hair. During that time my hair not only grew, I was able to get my hair in the best condition it has been in a very long time.

Now that the cold weather has set in I’m going back to protective styling for another 6 months. This time I am starting this month, December 2011 and ending sometime May 2012. I am going to go by the same rules as the last challenge and post updates along the way (in case you missed it you can read about it here).

Last week I started the challenge by wearing simply french braids accessorized with pearl beads.  I applied a little leave in conditioner and whipped shea butter to hair before braiding. Made a quick and really pretty hair accessory by sliding one pearl bead onto a hairpin. The beads were purchased from a craft store and hairpins are from the local beauty supply.

Are you doing any protective styling this winter?

I don't know how to corn row and I just learned how to flat twist. So as far as protective styles I'm limited. Good luck on your challenge.

I'm loving the French braids. I've been switching between protective styles and regular styles. My protective styles include flat twists, hats lol, and finger coils.
